United States of America Baby Quilt

I got the idea for quilting the United States off of Pinterest, and adapted it into this great baby quilt for my nephew that will arrive later this year!

 For the state's and border I used some fat quarters and fabric scraps that I already had. I found the perfect fabric for the quilt back at Joann fabrics - it has all the names of the state's on it!

I ended up not getting enough of this for the quilt back so I used some leftover pieces from the states to make strips along the sides of the backing so it would be large enough.

I made this quilt using freezer paper applique, the tutorial does go into a brief explanation of this, but I will be posting an in-depth tutorial on freezer paper applique soon!
I also do not explain how to quilt and bind your project in this tutorial.  If you would like to learn how to do this there are lots of great tutorials out there.
